I found a way to make montains using the water tool and shorelines. It works well and it has its charm I guess. Only trouble i'm seeing currently is that you can't put rivers on it, because it is considered water.

I had to put water elements in other water elements to make higher montains, but thats probably because my map is 10kpx width and maximum shore lines is 300px.
