Windows Vista Compatability

Post by Lubrol88800 » Wed May 27, 2015 8:32 pm

Well, Vista is a total bust. Installation as administrator and a reboot produces the same error:
"The procedure entry point GdipDeleteEffect could not be located in the dynamic link library gdiplus.dll"

Not necessarily surprising give the OS.

No issues on Windows 7 Pro or 8.1 Pro.

Thank you! All our Alpha backers had Windows 7 and above, so we didn't do testing with Vista.
We'll look into the compatibility and see what dependency is missing in Vista.

In reality, it is not terribly critical since Vista has been sunsetted. Sure security updates are still being supplied but the system is so unstable is doesn't really matter. I'm also running on Win 7 Pro and Win 8.1 Pro. Only issues there are is File Insert doesn't function: but it isn't supposed to at this point. It will be very sweet when it does as I have existing bitmap maps I could import and redo then.

Vista compatibility wasn't a problem in our earlier builds, so we're hoping it's a smaller issue and we'll be able to support Vista.

By the way, if what you wanted to do was have a bitmap in the background there's an option in map properties for adding an image. We haven't made them movable yet, but you can scale it up to work with it.

I'll give that a try this weekend and let you know if I have issues. But, right now at least, work before pleasure :? :-(

Thanks for the tip.
