We worked on speed/performance for Beta 4. I think you should notice it being quite a bit faster when editing (we hope!).
We'll add improving RAM utilization to the schedule for the next release and see if we can drop the RAM used for that size of map some. Options to not load all the art resources for certain, but we'll also work on reducing the RAM used for some caching happening behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, see if you have other programs open that may be taking RAM away from you that OWM could use. Other than the new artwork RAM utilization should be the same as the previous release.
