Figure Area of Land Mass or Boundary Area?

Is there a way to figure out the area of a land mass or area within a boundary automatically? Counting grid squares is not good for my eyes :D

That's a good suggestion! :) No, but the code to do it is 80% already there because it's needed for the OWM engine. So, it would be mostly a UI thing.

Any suggestions on how you would like that displayed? I guess it could be via the measuring tool - but we're opened to suggestions.

Thanks!

I'm in Linux right now, so I can't look at the UI to confirm details, but, when a region/landmass/etc. is selected, there's a display in the right-side toolbox showing line styles, fill color/texture, and so on for the selected object. Maybe display the area there? (Or maybe not, since I think the existing information is all details of how it's drawn and the area isn't related to that. But it's the closest thing to a "general information about the object" display that I can think of offhand.)

Good points.... definitely makes sense to have it, but not easy to figure out where. Stephanie should be able to come up with something that works design-wise.

Thanks!

I like that location suggestion. It's intuitive there, there's space for it and the UI area is already made.

And while you're at it... length of a road or river :D

I'll one-up that request: Length of an arbitrary segment of a road or river.

I'm much more likely to want to know how far it is from here to there along a road than to want to know the road's full length.

We'll look into showing the segment info somewhere, but remember that the measure tool can follow existing items and will tell you the length of that path. It uses the scale on the map setup.

Was this ever implemented by chance?
