Re: Archipelago generator

Any particular programs/implementations we should measure our ideas against? ;) Definitely. :) I am not even deigning fractal generators a mention. They are crap and shouldn’t be used. ;) This is what I was able to find in terms of tectonic-based generators and what I think of them: 1) Tectonics.js...

Re: A few points about usability and UI

Any news on that front? No pressure, I am just curious. :) We got a lot of good feedback in addition to all the awesome feedback from the forums :D I owe you guys the summary and will try to post soon. Bad weather hit our already behind schedule so we've been working to catch back up, but we are in...

Re: A few points about usability and UI

We're going to consolidate all our plans for the UI update into one post like I said, but may be later in the week. We are waiting for feedback from additional people who are reviewing OWM that are cartographers and gamers, then we'll put all the ideas together for you guys to review :) Any news on...

Re: Archipelago generator

Makes sense, thank you Alejandro. If you can get world generation right, I would definitely back you again. The current world-generation tools are rather lackluster. Would you be looking at the “real deal,” i.e., plate tectonic simulation on a sphere + climate simulation + erosion? Or would you be c...

Re: Archipelago generator

I fully understand the need to avoid feature creep. Even if you add it in v.2.0, I won’t complain. I can draw my islands manually in the meantime. It’s just so damn time-consuming. (BTW: The partition tool is more useful for emulating rifts between continental plates. Island chains don’t really for...

Same here.

Re: Arrows, currents and other markers

Hmm, I remember writing a response to this days ago. Maybe I never clicked “Submit” and unwittingly closed the tab. The only problem I see with the sea route tool is that it seems to need to snap to a shore. (Or does my memory fail me? I have no access to the Windows machine right now.) Ocean curren...

Archipelago generator

Looking at a world map today, I had an idea. I realized that my maps don't have nearly enough islands and island chains compared to the Earth. Would it be possible to include an "archipelago generator" in OWM? You would select its borders like a landmass or would draw a path and it would fill the ar...

Re: A few points about usability and UI

We put a lot of thought/planning onto that during our pre-alpha stage and feedback. a)A lot of people don't like the select and move to be the same tool because you may accidentally move and item when you just want to select it (for changing properties, copying, etc). b) If you include the rotate i...
