Label Tools

Post by IronConrad » Mon Mar 04, 2019 1:28 am

Is it possible to right mouse on a Text Label and get a box to update the text (rather than in the label control)? The label control works but sometimes it's a bit complex.

When the user has entered the text, is there a key press to complete the entry? (Enter and Tab don't work? --- Escape key?)

I'm not seeing an option in the Help File. (It's probably so obvious, it doesn't need to be stated.) I found I had to go back to the mouse and move to another object.

It seemed there was no place to rename the label name and the slow double click was not working for me? Perhaps use the "F2" key like other products?

I'm guessing the Fonts come up in PX size? (Perhaps per the map dimension?) Are some fonts better at rendering than others? Do some sizes scale better. It seemed like there was a little aliasing. (Fonts are always tough in drawing programs.)

We could make it an option. I think most people like the "type in place" but it makes sense to have the option to bring up a box to edit the label text.

No, good point. Enter goes to the next line and Tab ads a tab. You have to click outside the label as you found, which maybe a bit counter intuitive. We'll investigate options.

Can you clarify this part?

All text should be anti aliased (if something isn't please let us know in case it's a bug). All fonts should render and scale about the same.

And they do come up in PX size, though we are slowly going through OWM and adding options to see elements in units other than pixels.

Thank you!

I have been trying to get labels to follow rivers and roads. I know it's possible, but haven't been able to figure out how! Are there any tutorial videos on the labelling features specifically? Can't seem to find any info on this.

Thank you!

We don't have a tutorial video for it yet, but it is on our list. On the label toolbar, switch to Path mode and then click the Following checkbox. That will let you place a path that will follow existing items. After you right click to finish the path, you can enter your text like a normal label.

Let us know if that isn't clear!
