I would love a single layer for freehand sketching. It doesn't need any fancy pens or features like pressure sensitivity. A simple pen tool with adjustable pixel size would be enough. And great if it can rest on top of the map to be toggled on and off. Perhaps a setting for opacity.

The purpose would be to be able to plan things out directly in the tool, do quick notes or planned rough coastlines etc. It would make it so much easier to do more complex maps.

P.S. Bonus: I would love the ability to add guides as well. Guides as in Photoshop and other programs, where you can either set them specifically on the art or at a specific pixel place or % of width/height.

The sketch layer is a good idea and I’ll add it to our list! We’ve actually had plans to add guidelines since we added the ruler, but it’s been pushed back a couple times. We’ll move it up the priority list and try to get those out release after next.

What's in the next release?

Mostly issue fixes. 2020 was pretty rough on our release plan and we didn't make as much progress as we wanted.

We'll still have a few new cool features for buildings, stairs and others.
