Sorry for being a bit late to introduce myself...
Hi Everyone
I'm so glad to see that a fantasy map making tool like this is being developed and that able to gather this much interest. That makes me feel less lonely as I spend crazy amount of time and effort at creating fantasy maps!
My name is Anna B Meyer, and I'm a professional map maker specializing in fantasy maps. Living in Southern California but grew up in Sweden. The tools I use most these days are Adobe Creative Suite, World-Machine, Vue, Campaign Cartographer.
When I saw the Other world Mapper presentation I recognize it was the kind of tool I always wished I had when I started making maps on my computer. I'm interested in OWM both becasue I want to be able to use it for myself, but also because I think it will be a great tool for the gamers who I make my maps for. OWM will be a great tool for them to alter the maps they get from me to suit their games. I also hope to create base maps, textures, symbols and other assets to be used with OWM.
Looking forward to be part of the growing community with you all and to have creative fun together.

I really admire people doing this professionally.
I am more of a world builder with very limited graphical skill. I can create backstories, invent fictional languages for my worlds, no problem. But draw a map? (Or anything else for that matter?) OWM will be my crutch.

I've been following Anna Meyer's Greyhawk map project for a number of years now. You can see her Flanaess JPG download page, to see the sort of level she works on.
All of those maps are actually built in 3D!
Here are some pictures of what she is building for the Southlands

Those are gorgeous! .. If I may ask, what software package are you using to build the 3D Maps?
