Hey!

No worries, I know the Mac release is very late. With the release candidate all our attention is turning to the Mac port so we should have a Mac alpha with the next release.

Thanks!

Hi:

In the same vein, what is the Linux port schedule?

So far, OWM v0.9.1 works well in a VirtualBox Windows 10 VM hosted on my Linux system.
I did not get OWM to work in Wine, but did not try very hard because OWM is working in VirtualBox.

Glad to hear OWM is working well in a VirtualBox! I should have mentioned with my reply, now that we aren't planning any major changes to the current functionality, we are working on the Mac and Linux ports in parallel so hopefully we'll have them both ready about the same time.

Out of idle curiosity: do you foresee any technological hurdles for the ports? Like some library that's not supported or Windows-only tools that you're using and have to redo for Mac/Linux?

One of the reasons we took longer (and we've had the ability to change things and add more functionality) is that we programmed our own 2D engine for OWM so we don't have any external dependencies from that side (other than the actual raster API which can be swapped easily).

The hurdle is the same from always, the UI. For various reasons we built the UI natively under Windows, so we are choosing between have two separate UI layers - one native for Windows, and one for Mac and Linux, or make our current UI layer crossplatform.

So, although I know it's not a perfect scenario, it's a matter of dev time not of can we/can't we.
