The parentage is what’s tripping you up. Generally, an item can only interact with its parent and siblings. Because of how the engine is structured, there isn't currently a way to change the layer order of item types. The best way would be to change the light source's angle to about 180 and increase the beam width.

We don't have a tutorial video for it yet, but it is on our list. On the label toolbar, switch to Path mode and then click the Following checkbox. That will let you place a path that will follow existing items. After you right click to finish the path, you can enter your text like a normal label. Le...

Yes, it is still being looked into. It unfortunately didn't make it into this release, but the next release shouldn't take as long and it will definitely be fixed for that one. Sorry for the wait.
